Agile Talks#25- No-nonsense ProductManagement & PD in the Age of MachineLearning

Hello,

You are invited to the October edition of Agile Talks.

Our first speaker is Tudor Marciu, an independent product consultant with experience in software engineering, agile processes and product management. A fan of transparency and efficiency, he promotes a no-nonsense approach to software development. Through his company, Johnny Modest Consultancy, he provides Business Analysis and Product consultancy to both startups and established companies.

Tudor will talk about "No-nonsense Product Management - a metric-based approach":

"As a Product professional in an Agile environment you stand at the intersection between two very dynamic environments with radically different mentalities: "on the shelf" (Development, Design, QA), concerned with quality and performance, and off-the-shelf (Sales, Marketing), concerned with speed and presentation. Though interdependent, the two hardly ever have the same goals. Reconciling both visions in Product decisions and road-maps is difficult by default, especially with little to no formal authority. The metric-based approach addresses this problem by creating a transparent, democratic system for making decisions and getting stakeholders on board."

Our second speaker is Bogdan Costea, developer and lead for over 10 years. He is passionate about building products, optimizing processes and creating value. He pushes software craftsmanship, agile and lean methods on high stakes. Over the years, he's had projects in over 18 countries (most of them with his work), so he enjoys traveling. Lately he has been doing it as a hobby since he works from his home office in fluffy slippers.

Bogdan will talk about "Product Development in the Age of Machine Learning":

"Machine Learning isn’t new. Commodity, large scale, applied and cheap Machine Learning is new… and it changes everything. Most of our everyday tasks will be impacted in some way by Machine Learning in the next few years. Most things you do every day already benefit from ML in some way or another. Most likely you don’t even know it. This talk isn’t about math. It’s about what easily available, simple... and cheap Machine Learning does to Product Development, what can be gained with very little effort and what you should be really considering for your next products, all based on my journey decoding the sorcery of machine learning and using it with over-average results."
